You might recognize Katie Novotny from her breakout role as Secretary #2 in Benet Academy’s high school musical, Wonderful Town or from that time she was a Stack of Wheat in North Central College’s summer production of Joseph and the Amanzing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
But most likely, you’ve seen her at shows and basements and backyards and consignment shops and barbershops and one time a sports bar where all the TVs were playing, volume ON during the show, all around the great city of Los Angeles. And now she’s putting together a stand up special.
If you struggle with reading comprehension, Katie has the self-deprecating humor of a Midwestern tomboy. She doesn’t shy away from her dad’s love of Fox News, or how incredibly bad she is at dating. But she is afraid to talk about sex –mainly cause she rarely has it. With the guilt of a Catholic School Girl running through her veins and the entirety of her set, she already feels bad asking you to come out to this show where she can run her 30 mins before she films it in November.
BUT! In efforts to #overcome her humbleness, here’s a couple reasons you should get your butt in those seats.
She got voted into SLO Comedy Festival’s Best of Fest line up (top 7 comics out of 40) and has been an official artist at Limestone, Asheville, Big Pine, Vail, Amsterdam’s Boom Chicago Comedy Festival, HBO’s Women in Comedy Festival, and many more. She trained at Second City and iO in improv and sketch comedy, produced two award-winning webseries (Guilty and Wellness Check), and her pilot scripts have landed her as a semi-finalist in Slamdance and Screencraft. She's performed at Hollywood Fringe Festival and is commercially repped by BBR (six national commercials and counting).
It’ll be a guaranteed good time. If not only because of her relentless desire to prove her high school music director he was wrong for not casting her as a lead.*
*Mr. Wand, if you’re reading this, it’s a joke. If you’re not, I’m dead serious.
